Our Mission

ARTIFACTS is an art enrichment program designed for grammar school students. This program is taught by a professional artist and is designed to introduce the students to the masters and their works. The objective of this program is to familiarize the students with the history of art and introduce them to great artists throughout the ages. This program will discuss the artistic influences of each artist and the impact the art had on society.

The Artifacts program has a collection of reproductions representing a range of art from antiquity to modern day. These posters are hanging throughout the school for the children to become familiar with. The featured artist for the month will have reproductions of their work displayed in the library and showcase a selection of books for the students to review as well.

It is often said in traditional art circles that if a painter desires to be great, they must first learn how to paint like the masters. Artifacts not only introduces the students to the works of great artists but also instructs them in the style and techniques used by that artist. The students will then create their own art work in the “style of” that artist. This “hands on” approach to art history promotes a more intimate understanding of the artist.

Parent volunteers are needed to help the students during the art workshops. If you would like to be a part of this program, please contact Colleen Murphy at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
